Eno
OCT 8 → OCT 10, 2024

A groundbreaking documentary about visionary musician and artist Brian Eno that’s different every time it’s shown!  Using specially designed software, each screening of ENO is unique – with different scenes, order, music – and is meant to be experienced live. Don’t miss your chance to see ENO at The Ross on TUESDAY, OCTOBER 8 at 7:15 p.m. and THURSDAY, OCTOBER 10 at 7:15 p.m.

Both screenings will be followed by a 20-minute pre-filmed Q&A with director Gary Hustwit, for those interested in learning more about the film.

Visionary musician and artist Brian Eno — known for producing David Bowie, U2, Talking Heads, among many others; pioneering the genre of ambient music; and releasing more than 40 solo and collaboration albums — reveals his creative processes in Eno, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Gary Hustwit (HELVETICA, RAMS).

In the first career-spanning documentary of the legendary and prolific artist and the world’s first generative feature film, Hustwit set out to decode Eno’s creative strategies and examine his lifelong search for the meaning of music. Defying the hagiographic impulses of the music doc genre, ENO draws from original interviews and the artist’s own staggering archive of never-before-seen footage and unreleased music, as well as Hustwit’s original interviews.

Utilizing a software system developed by Hustwit and digital artist Brendan Dawes, ENO employs groundbreaking technology to accomplish something that’s never been done before: a feature film that’s never the same twice. The generative software sequences scenes and creates transitions out of Hustwit’s original interviews with Eno, and Eno’s rich archive of never-before-seen footage and unreleased music. Each screening of ENO is unique, presenting different scenes, order, music, and meant to be experienced live.
