Hubbard Lecture: (RE)CONNECTIONS THROUGH TIME

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 21 – 5:00 P.M.

University of Nebraska State Museum presents a documentary film screening followed by a panel discussion with Hopi and Zuni artists as they share their experiences of reconnecting with ancestral collections held in museums, their reflections on the origins and evolution of art forms, and their hopes for the next generation of Hopi and Zuni artists. Tickets available at the door the night of the show, or in advance via the ticketing link below.

Panelists include:

Curtis Quam – a member of the Zuni Tribe, leader of the A:shiwi A:wan Museum and Heritage Center, and member of the Zuni Cultural Resource Advisory Team.

Octavius Seowtewa – a member of the Zuni Tribe, an A:shiwi (Zuni) scholar, elder and religious leader. He supervises the Zuni Cultural Resources Advisory Team, and is Community Lead for the Zuni (Re)Connections Through Time project .

Alex Seowtewa – a member of the Zuni Tribe, an A:Shiwi (Zuni) elder and religious leader, a US Navy veteran, youth educator, farmer, and member of the Zuni Cultural Resources Advisory Team.

Emmaline Naha – a member of the Hopi Tribe (Roadrunner Clan), a renowned pottery artist from First Mesa.

Karen Charley – a member of the Hopi Tribe (Butterfly/Badger Clans), a renowned potter from First Mesa, the Community Lead for the Hopi (Re)Connections Through Time project.

Carrie Heitman – Associate professor of anthropology, Associate Director for the Center for Digital Research in the Humanities at UNL, and Project Director for the (Re)Connections Through Time project.

Daniel Byers – Founder and Director of Skyship Films, filmmaker for the (Re)Connections Through Time project.
