EAST OF WALL writer/director KATE BEECROFT will visit The Ross on Friday, August 29 and join the audience for a discussion following the 7:30pm opening night screening of her film. Presented by Friends of The Ross and the Norman A. Geske Cinema Showcase. 

Writer and director Kate Beecroft is a Los Angeles native who graduated from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London. Her background in acting has given her a deep love and respect for those she works with on camera, whether professional or non-actors.

Her feature film debut “East of Wall” premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, winning the Audience Award, where it was acquired by Sony Pictures Classics. Kate has been placed on IndieWire’s list of “Sundance 2025 breakouts” as well as a “ReFrame Rise Finalist, 2025 Cohort” for WIF. Kate was the 2025 recipient of the Adrienne Shelley Excellence in Filmmaking Award.

EAST OF WALL is an authentic portrait of female resilience in the ‘New West’ inspired and played by the women and girls who live it. Set in the Badlands of South Dakota, Tabatha, a young, rebellious rancher, who rescues and resells horses, must make hard decisions to deal with her fractured family, financial uncertainty, and unresolved grief, all while providing refuge for a group of wayward neighborhood teens.
